When I was assigned this project, I instantly knew I wanted to focus on Williamsburg, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. In the many times I have visited my aunt in the city, I enjoyed Williamsburg the most. I remember walking around looking at the new buildings and chic restaurants like a kid in a candy shop, wanting to go everywhere, eat everything, and spend the rest of my life here. Exploring the streets and walking around Domino Park made me curious, standing in front of the towering Domino Sugar Refinery and waving to Manhattan from across the East River. I was excited to do this project, eager to learn more about the area, share photographs I took a few years ago, as well as test out my creative writing skills which have not been used since elementary school. I hope you enjoy reading this project as much as I did creating it.
